Inauguration of the Great Hall of the Centre for the Interpretation of the Territory of the lower Valdisieve

Saturday 21 May 2022, during a public event in which citizens are invited to participate, the first room of the "Interpretation Center of the Lower Valdisieve" will be inaugurated, housed in the former Palazzo Comunale di Pelago (via del Ponte Vecchio , 1). The works, carried out with the contribution of the CR Firenze Foundation, made it possible to set up the so-called 'Sala Grande' on the ground floor, equipping it with the necessary equipment to host immersive projections, conferences and temporary exhibitions, as well as to serve as the Council room of the Pelaghese Municipality.
In this Center it will be possible to acquire the reading keys to decode in the correct historical perspective the places of greatest interest present in the portion of the territory between the Sieve river, the middle Valdarno, the Pratomagno and the Mugello, of which the aspects connected with the life and works of Lorenzo Ghiberti (Pelago, 1378 - Florence, 1455). Today as then, in fact, the castle is located within a landscape 'artfully built' by the hand of man and characterized by the presence of olive groves and vineyards, the castles of the Conti Guidi family and the Vallombrosana abbey and is this is precisely the landscape to which the artist refers in his works, and in particular on the doors of the Baptistery of San Giovanni in Florence, using an avant-garde casting technique, which already made him famous in the eyes of his contemporaries.
The permanent exhibition project will use a profoundly innovative narrative key, making use of both exempla and multimedia and environmental graphics. Digital copies (DT), 3D animations, Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR) constitute the assets that will thus allow an all-encompassing experience, adaptable to different audiences and updatable over time based on the research conducted. from the Florentine University.
